Featured Artist Bill Steber

Because of the high traffic, we moved the Bill Steber exhibit to a faster server. There was no interruption in service and all addresses for the exhibit still work, but it might be best to use the new shorter address below. Please send the link to people who are interested.

See the exhibit at this address:

To send a question to Bill Steber, please write to hoodooroot@home.com.

Photography Classes

Hoping the Bill Steber exhibit will inspire more artists to produce interesting visual work in the areas of art, music, culture and social issues, we are beginning a series of photography classes. A person with any level of skill in photography or video can take the classes and learn methods used in production of broadcast video and commercial photography. Keep in mind, we want students interested in art and culture.

Domain Name

Being in Houston and concerned with culture, we purchased a new domain name -- houstonculture.org. The earlier name, cultural-crossroads.com, will continue to operate, as it still conceptually applies to our website. We will, after some amount of careful planning, move thousands of files to the new server.

Educational Travel

The next trip will be in late May and it will feature aspects of Native American and Spanish history in New Mexico and Colorado.

See the proposed itinerary:

Post Cards

On Friday we will have new post cards. Please pick up one, or two (hundred) to send to friends and to leave at area museums, cultural centers, and music venues. This card features a photograph from a mission in Mexico to promote some of our current projects -- artist exhibits, photography classes, educational travel to Mexico and New Mexico, Cabeza de Vaca on line, and more.

Example of the photograph:

The next card will feature performing arts and will promote the performance of Namita Bodaji.

Classical Indian Dance

We are fortunate to have Namita Bodaji back at the end of April to perform at Rice University. We are also looking for a place for her to perform in the community, as they say, "beyond the hedges" of Rice. Please let me know if you have some ideas. We will begin to promote this to the community very soon.
